Deep Cleaning Your Magnolia Rental’s Kitchen Between Tenants

Deep Cleaning Oven VentWhen a tenant moves out of a single-family rental home, you’ll need to prepare it for the next tenant. One of the things you’ll need to do is to clean the kitchen. But you can’t just give it an ordinary cleaning, it needs to be deep cleaned. This is because kitchens get grimy after months or even years of use. And the tenant that just left, no matter how conscientious they were, may have only done a surface clean before they moved out. So, to attract your next tenant and to make sure they stay, you’ll need to do a thorough cleaning of every part of your Magnolia rental property’s kitchen. This may take some time to do but it is one task that is well worth it.

You must offer a property that is clean and in good repair so that you can keep attracting quality tenants to your rental home in Magnolia. As prospective renters walk through and take a look at the property, there is a likelihood that they wouldn’t have noticed that you cut corners on cleaning the kitchen.  But when they’ve been living in it for a time, that dirty kitchen will be a major cause for complaint and a headache for you. Tenants want to live in a rental home that has been correctly and thoroughly cleaned. If they move in and find out that basic cleaning and maintenance tasks have not been done, they will feel deceived and unhappy.

It may be hard work, but deep cleaning a kitchen will make your tenants happy while simultaneously extending the life of your surfaces, floors, and appliances. For many tenants, they wipe down countertops and other surfaces before they leave the house, but cupboard interiors also need to be wiped out and their exterior surfaces scrubbed with a grease-removing cleanser.

Refrigerators, dishwashers, and microwaves need to be wiped down, inside and out, on top and underneath. The rubber gasket around refrigerator doors should also be wiped clean and the coils vacuumed or dusted. Even self-cleaning ovens need the baked-on food and wire racks removed before turning them on, and electric stovetops should be taken apart and scrubbed down. All these tasks are necessary to help your appliances last for many more years.

When you are deep cleaning a kitchen, give special attention to the parts that often get overlooked on a day-to-day basis. Walls and ceilings need to be dusted, and if that’s not enough, scrubbed with a degreasing cleaner. Air vents, doorknobs, and switch plates all need to be thoroughly cleaned. The same thing applies to the stove hood, fan, and filter.

Blinds and curtains should be removed and washed, and the windows cleaned inside and out. Also have the ceiling fans, light fixtures, and any framed art or wall décor carefully wiped down. The final steps would be to wipe down all countertops and other surfaces, and mop the floors, including behind the stove and refrigerator. You still need to clean those hard to reach areas because greasy spills and other messes can accumulate under appliances, creating bad odors and attracting insects.

Deep cleaning a kitchen properly is really time-consuming, but you really can’t ignore it. That doesn’t mean that you’ve got to be the one to do it yourself though.
